Blogmas, Days 7-11: Motivation…or Lack Thereof

The Christmas tree at Primm.

First off, Happy Hanukkah. For those of you who celebrate Hanukkah, I hope you have a wonderful and safe festival week 🕎 It has been five days since my last post. To be honest, I haven’t had the motivation. Between being in a creativity drought, and not feeling all that great, there just hasn’t been the drive. On the plus-side, I’ve been working on some new projects that should be taking off before the end of the year. We are also working on editing a few videos, which is admittedly taking longer than anticipated, but we’ll have those up before the new year.

Blogmas, Day 6: Bucket List (sort of…)

Every year I think of everything I want to do and what I’ve accomplished. Admittedly, there hasn’t been much in the way of accomplishments this year. Well, there is one thing: After years of studying, writing, and researching, I finally have my PhD! You can read about that here. As excited as I was, it didn’t feel like this giant weight off my shoulders as I thought it would have been. That being said, I’m so glad to be done. Now I’m getting sidetracked. The year in review (my last Blogmas post) will include a non-holiday bucket list. This post is a bit different because it focuses specifically on the holidays. Here is my holiday bucket list for 2020:

Blogmas, Day 5: Wrapping Alternatives

Wrapping paper can be beautiful. I used to love going to the after-Christmas sales to get the, often glittery or metallic, rolls of paper. It always made me a bit sad that such pretty paper would just be tossed aside, even though it was fun to see the kids tear open their gifts. I still have quite a bit of it, so I’ll use it up as the holidays pass. If you have extra, you can use it to create decorations, create a backdrop for pictures, line your shelves (with the glitter-free kind)… get creative! What happens when you run out of wrapping paper? Or maybe the item you are gifting requires a different kind of wrapping material. There are alternative methods that are inexpensive, or even free, that are more sustainable than wrapping paper. You could reuse wrapping paper, but that also means you have to be careful when unwrapping gifts.

Blogmas, Days 3-4: A Wish List

I had to sit and think hard about this post. There was a lot of wavering on whether or not to post a wish/gift list given the state of the world. It somehow seemed inappropriate, yet when I thought more about it, there is nothing wrong with wishing. Perhaps I’m reading more into it than is necessary. I don’t want it to come off as selfish. I also don’t want anyone to think that I’m promoting going out, especially with the current goings on. If you have the resources to shop online, practically anything can be delivered. Deliveries can also be made to you loved ones, which is convent, especially now. If you are curious about my (admittedly short) list, read on.

Blogmas, Day 2: Content

Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with a topic that is original, or at least sounds less repetitive. I will have a post on gifting. Even though this blog is relatively small, I’d like to think that (even a little bit of it) provides some sort of value and/or entertainment. Some of the content that will be featured relates to WoW’s Feast of Winter Veil. I’ll also have some gift and wrapping ideas. I’m hoping to have a video posted soon, and would love for you to join me. We might even be able to get a Winter Veil stream going as well as a livestream as the holiday approaches.

Happy December! + Life Update

Another month has gone by, and we’re almost to a new year. I’ve started to do a pantry clear-out to use up everything we have. It’s so easy to overbuy, and even with a stricter stay-in that started yesterday, we have plenty of dry goods and shelf-stable items. Even though I’m low-waste, I’ve put that aside in favor of keeping with safety guidelines. Also, side note, if you are feeling guilty about accumulating more waste than normal, don’t. You can’t help the current state of things, and an increase in waste materials is to be expected. You are doing the best you can. Enough with that. Let’s crack on!

Period Talk: FLEX Cup

I bought the small FLEX Cup a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale. The one thing about silicone is that it collects lint like crazy, hence why there is some on the cup. I always wash cups before using them, and you should too. Anyway, here are my thoughts on the FLEX Cup. Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. Always consult your physician before trying out products like these and others. This is not a sponsored post.

Gratitude in November 🍂

Being grateful should apply regardless of the time of year. Since November is synonymous with “giving thanks” I figured I’d start a list. I’m only 11 days behind (where did the weeks go?), so here goes. Also, I’ll be updating this post as the month rolls on. In WoW, Pilgrim’s Bounty is just around the corner, so we will have a small spread. I have a zero-waste giveaway planned for the holidays– more on that later. What else? I suppose that’s all for now. What is on your grateful/thankful list?

Catching Glimr *NEW Battle Pet*

How cute is Glimr?!

There is a new battle pet for all of you collectors out there: Glimr. Glimr is reminiscent of the new Funko Pop that you can check out here. When the announcement was released that a new battle pet was found, one of my guildies and I went to Northrend to start the quest chain. Before you get started, this week is Darkmoon Faire, so head over to get the buff. You won’t need it, but it doesn’t hurt to have it. You will also want some gold because you will fatigue and die…unless you’re lucky and don’t. I died twice. You may also want a water mount since the majority of the quests will have you, not only fatigue, but place you deep in the icy waters of Northrend. Another item that is optional, but can come in handy, is having an extra under water breathing elixir. You are given three Elixir of Water Breathing after exchanging a scale with King Mrgl-Mrgl. If you have the Underlight Angler with Underlight Blessing, you can equip to be able to breathe under water. This only comes in handy for non-combat travel.
