Not all decisions end with the desired result. Luckily, this isn’t one of those times. While this is a huge deal, it may only be to me. It is the culmination of years spent in academia. After a seemingly endless tunnel of study, application, tests, projects, presentations, papers, groups, and so much more, I can officially state that I have my PhD! Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be called doctor (not medical), and now that’s possible. It is such a relief, especially given that there was a slim chance that the final deadline would pass me by. As a result of my experiences, I will be dedicating a section in this blog to discuss my journey, warts and all, that will be open for any questions you may have. It was one of the most difficult undertakings but with one of the greatest intrinsic rewards. My experience may not be the same for you, so it is important not to generalize.
