This will be this first post in a series that will outline my personal experiences in obtaining a PhD. It is something that I wanted to have since I can remember, and in all honesty, I didn’t think it would happen. Anyway, this first post is, as the title states, the beginning of my journey. All other posts in this series will be scheduled for Mondays.
After completing my master’s in psychology, I continued on to my PhD. I was continuing at the same university so I didn’t have to apply in a formal manner. There was no interview. It felt more like the MS program segued into the PhD program. The handbook for the program was provided and I chose my specialization. I also came up with a financial plan to see how much, give or take, the program was going cost– I increased the approximate amount by 10% for anything unforeseen. Side story: I had always wanted to profile serial killers. It was a dream job of mine from the time I was about 11-12 years old. Unfortunately that went out the window (it’ll be discussed in another post) so I chose I/O with an emphasis in consulting. After being accepted into the program the coursework began.
Next week’s post will be about a discussion of the coursework and materials. I know that some things have changed since my time there. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!
Peace & Love, always!
