Today is the first day of May, and this week we are looking at mostly clear skies with weather ranging from the mid-70s to high-80s. I spent much of the day with the cats while horror stories played in the background. We did a little gardening, and by that, I mean that we watered the tomato and radish plants. Since it is almost a new day, I’ll make the rest of the post brief.

It’s that time of year again. In a few days I’ll be marking another “trip around the sun”. As I get older the time goes by faster. There is an adage that goes, “Youth is wasted on the young” and it’s true. There is so much I hope to be able to do in this life. For me, birthdays are a reminder of what I want to accomplish while I’m able to. They are also a reminder of my own mortality. It probably sounds morbid, but it doesn’t have to be and isn’t in my case.

Last Friday was the day devoted to supporting environmental protection. Whether you participated in a beach clean-up or tried out more sustainable lifestyle adjustments, every little action adds up in the end. Making this planet a better place, and helping it heal, takes more than just the actions of individuals. Corporations, manufactures, etc. have to be held accountable and do their part too. This year I opted to take a different approach and decided to make a decision that could make an impact long-term.
Continue ReadingGoodbye, March. Hello, April! 🌸
Before we begin, I actually thought this had scheduled this post a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, I did not do that. March was a crazy month, which I’ll kind of get into below. There will be more content coming out, so as long as I double-check that posts are scheduled, there shouldn’t be such long gaps between posts.

It has been a few weeks. Life happened, and then I thought I scheduled this post. Turns out, I didn’t. If you’d like to learn a little bit more about how we’re getting on with paring down, and some thoughts I’ve had along the way, read on.

Those of you who have been here awhile know that, while I’m far from perfect, I try to live as low-waste and sustainably as possible within the confines of my situation. This blog has, in part, chronicled that journey. Unfortunately, part of a new adventure I’m embarking on challenges that, but we are working towards a more low-waste and sustainable future. If you are interested in reading more about the direction this blog is taking, and then some, click below.

I received my items from Package Free Shop that included the Leaf razor and Kooshoo organic hair ties. There will be a separate review for the hair ties once I’ve had more time with them. I bought the shave bundle (in gold), which saved some money, and used some points to lower the price further. I’m glad I did.

Happy New Year! We hope you had a nice, safe weekend. Here is a bit of what has been going on since the new year started and the direction for 2022.
Continue Reading2021 in a Nutshell
We hope that you had a nice holiday weekend! Another year, filled with all sorts of goings on, has come and gone. The transition from 2020 to 2021 found us settled into our new “normal” and have been working on getting things ready for what promises to be a big reveal. Whether or not it happens the way we envision is a different story. Hopefully, everything goes off without a hitch.

It looks like we are finally in for some cooler weather, and possibly definitely rain, this week. The plan is to get some of the storage unit cleaned out before temperatures go back up. We have so much that others could put to good use, and we’d like to rid ourselves of the added expense. Ideally, I’d like to get the furniture and box of clothes out since they are the stored items most affected by the weather. Productivity-wise, I made cookie dough to freeze until just before Christmas. I also got the other treats made and handed out for the most part. Every year we give out baked goods to friends and family. All I need are either tins or plates since I used the last of what we had last year.
