Spring at The Ecology Center + A New Channel!

A collage of photos from our visit.

Hello, all! Where is the time going? It feels like the holidays were yesterday. Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster since my last post, which is why I’ve been absent for awhile. Just when I think life is calming, something pops up. May is my birthday month, and even though I didn’t do much on the day, it was nice. All that being said, I have finally established a schedule for posts as well as something new, which will be discussed further below. I also have some spring-inspired favorites that I found at The Ecology Center during our visit in March.

🎃 Spooky Season 2024 👻

The entrance to HHN Hollywood.

There are a few days until Halloween, and fall is in full swing! Not only is fall my favorite season, but it is also home to my favorite holiday. I find the rich fall colors, and being able to cozy up in a warm sweater with some hot apple cider, satisfyingly comforting. Decorations comprised of jack-o-lanterns, spiders, cobwebs, and black cats set the stage for another spooky season. Creature Features are plentiful and help put me in the Halloween spirit. This year, I went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time. Just a side note: Everything here is my own opinion and not affiliated with the event or anyone connected to it.

I Tested Positive for Covid-19: The First Week

Yep, you read that right. I have tested positive**. During this pandemic we have taken every precaution and yet, even the best efforts can’t guarantee you won’t catch it. I went about 2.5 years Covid-free, which I guess is good considering how often those I live with go out. You all know how little I leave the house and that I never eat out. We returned from our trip a couple of weeks ago (if you want to read more about that, click here). Before anyone starts asking, yes, we were masked the whole time and used sanitizer on everything we came in contact with, including the whole airline seat, belt, tray, etc. on the flights, as well as the room, and ship. My assumption is that I caught it during the flight home, but unfortunately there is no way to be sure. I also don’t know which variant this is. I’m slowly getting better (by that, I mean progress is happening “slower than molasses in January”), but it’s nothing I didn’t expect. This post is only about my experiences during the first week. I won’t be posting about the rest of my progress, except perhaps once I’ve recovered, as I don’t want it to become a focus for this blog.

Guess Who’s Going to BlizzCon!

We were lucky enough to get our BlizzCon tickets during their second round of sales. I’ll have some links below where you might be able to get them, and you won’t pay more than the original listed price + fees. This year, to commemorate 25 years of the Warcraft universe, Blizzard let ticket holders choose between two statues: Orc Grunt (Horde) or Human Footman (Alliance). Ticket prices increased, and this year there were more options to choose from. We bought the regular pass ($229 + fees per ticket) and have reserved the room. In theory we could commute, but after our experience last year, it’s better for us to stay close to the convention center. Since Blizzard teamed up with AXS, you have to have the app when registering. There were some other issues in this change, like no longer being able to have your toon’s name on the badge, but it is what it is.
