I somehow missed all of August. Not much happened last month. We finalized the gift drop-off route for the holidays, got to work on decorations, and finished most of the holiday gifting. Ideally that all gets done before the seasons change. Between health issues and other things, it didn’t.
Spooky season is coming up (fall starts September 22nd), and I can’t wait! The change in weather, colors, and general atmosphere are quite warming. We don’t really see seasonal changes (i.e. fall colors) where we live, but that doesn’t prevent us from “getting in the spirit”. Typically, September 1st is when fall decorations go up. October 1st we add Halloween touches that stay up until December. After that, it’s time for Christmas-themed decorations.
Fall also signifies the beginning of pumpkin spice everything. While pumpkin/pumpkin spice is tasty, I’m really looking forward to apple-everything. I’m going to try to post some of my apple-focused recipes over the next couple of months. Cooler weather also provides the perfect background for many of my favorite comfort foods. Not that comfort food isn’t great all year long, but it tends to be richer and heavier, which (for me) is less appealing when the weather is so hot.
Do you have a favorite season?
Peace & Love, always!
Quick health update: Unfortunately, I have post-Covid syndrome, which has me (physically) down a lot of the time. I try to keep active, as difficult as it is, in the hopes of healing faster. Yes, it’s a waiting game.
