Weeks three and four were uneventful. I’m still not feeling great and decided to update my GP. We have a telemed call next week.
*As you can see, this post is a couple of weeks late. Things were a bit hectic, and I wasn’t feeling well. That being said, I hope you enjoy this short read.
I received a Starbucks drink, courtesy of my partner. Since he didn’t have my cup I added that to the list– It’s nice that it can be reused/repurposed. That was it for the plastic accumulation. Luckily the farm store nearby allows the use of reusable produce bags and jars (for the delicious honey straight from their apiary). I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s so important to realize that everyone is in a different situation. Some live in places where there aren’t many options and that’s okay. You should never feel guilty, especially when the choices are not there. Companies need to be held accountable for the packaging they choose, and manufacturers need to find planet-friendly alternatives. It would be wonderful to find a replacement for plastic that is safe for everyone. That being said, I’m not sure that can happen since people have all sorts of allergies and sensitivities. What do you think?
Here are some things we do with the plastic we take in: Chip bags are transformed into trash bags and plastic utensils get used until they break. I’ve had spoons from Yogurtland since they were founded in 2006! We also reuse food containers for leftovers or post them in the Buy Nothing group. They are surprisingly popular. Cups typically get recycled or used until they crack. The cups are great for small plants–we like to use them when growing green onions.
How do you reuse or repurpose plastics you bring into your home? We love learning about new ways to get the most life out of everything we purchase. Even though most of it (i.e. customized plastic packaging, shrink wrap, etc.) has to either go into the trash or recycle bin, there are times when we can get creative. I’ve seen holiday decorations made from bottle caps and cut up straws, art pieces made out of bottles and zip ties…We have to be the ones to make a change.
Peace & Love, always!
