We are entering the second month of 2021. January flew by. If everything goes according to plan, there will be some big changes this month. The focus of today’s post is de-cluttering (again). I have gone back-and-forth with minimalism for awhile. I’ve been a collector for so long that old habits have proven hard to break. That being said, it has gotten easier with time. While some people can change overnight, it’s less easy for others. It is all a work in progress.
The more I’ve had time to sit around, the more I realize that there is still so much that could be loved by someone else. If something hasn’t been used in a year or more (not counting things that are seasonal), odds are it won’t ever be used. So, I will be posting items to OfferUp, or one of those type of sites, since every penny counts. Whatever doesn’t sell will be posted to the local Buy Nothing group. The goal is to condense everything that will be brought during the move into 20 boxes (plastic storage containers, 35.87in L x 13.75in H x 16.65in W) or less. It’s definitely possible. I just have to be very selective with future purchases and focus on gifting things that haven’t seen the light of day in awhile.
Since the plan is to move, (only speaking for myself) I want to ship as few items as possible. First, it is expensive to have your house packed and shipped. Thus, the less we have, the better. Also, since we have kitties, there are other things to work out as someone will have to make sure everything arrives safe, etc. We also have to get other “ducks in a row” and have been working on them as we can.
I had originally planned to do a de-clutter time-lapse, but I’m still on the fence about it. Perhaps I shouldn’t care. There are several aspects of my personal life that are brought into this blog, and others that are kept private. Part of me feels that opening the door to a living space is too intimate, yet the other part of me thinks that it could help others by showing that we all live in different environments. Am I making a bigger deal out of it than I ought to? Maybe. At any rate, know that the decision to let you into my personal space was not taken lightly. Until next time!
Peace & Love, always!
