🌞 Some of My Favorite Things πŸŒ™

Finding the right products for your skin can be a tedious task. Since my skin reacts when the weather changes, I’ve been trying out some products to help combat my skin’s issues. As much as I don’t like the waste, there was no other way to test out skincare. I was able to post up the items that didn’t work in the Buy Nothing group so they didn’t get tossed. The following are some of the products that I love.

My Fat and the Moon Favorites.

First up is Fat and the Moon’s All Salve. The product does not sit on top of the skin, and since the salve is hard, you’re not getting more than you need. I’ve tried other balms, salves, and lotions, but none work as well. My favorite hand cream was from Bath and Body Works, but was sadly discontinued. All Salve leaves no greasy residue or film (for me, the product is absorbed within a couple of minutes) and has no scent. Well, the product smells primarily of beeswax, but the scent does not linger on the skin. I apply it multiple times per day, concentrating on the dry and chapped areas. The result is the my hands are just about back to normal.

The second product is also from Fat and the Moon: Deodorant Cream. Their deodorant cream is my favorite next to Schmidt’s Bergamot + Lime cream (the stick doesn’t work as well for me). Fat and the Moon’s deo is earthy, a little peppery, and also comes in a travel size that is perfect for when you’re on-the-go. All you have to do is take a bit of the paste with your fingers and apply. It’s mess-free and not greasy. If you choose to give it a whirl and you end up with a rash, you might want to try the Sensitive Pit Cream. Personally, if I don’t wash the deo off at the end of the day, and I shower every other day, a rash starts to form. Not sure why, but as long as I shower daily, I don’t have that problem.

The next product is also from Fat and the Moon (have you noticed a theme?), which is their All Cream. Creams and lotions rarely “wow” me, since so many of them feel and act in a similar manner. When I first touched All Cream, I noticed that it was very silky…like touching the finest yogurt. There is rosewater in it, so there is a very faint rose smell when you apply it; however, the scent dissipates quickly. Initially my skin was a bit shiny, but as with the other products I’ve tried from Fat and the Moon, this one absorbed within a few minutes. What is left is soft skin without the shine.

Sample sizes of some of my favorite Jao products.

Shifting away from Fat and the Moon, we move on to Jao. I have loved Lip Jao for ages, and have discussed the product multiple times. Today, I’ll be discussing their Refresher, Seed Face Oil, and Inscental Body Incense. Jar Refresher has been a favorite of many for ages. It contains 65% ethyl alcohol to help kill contaminants. The Refresher is not overly drying, but with repeated use, you might want to have some hand cream or lotion at the ready. I use the Seed Face Oil, at night, around my hairline since it is scented. To me, it smells a bit like bubblegum. Anyway, the product absorbs quickly, and helps with the dry patches. It works well, but I wish it was unscented. Last, the Inscental Body Incense, is something I love to use to perfume my hair. Initially, the scent is a bit like a mix of Carmex and a burning log, but after a little bit of time, all that remains is a beautiful woodsy fragrance. It reminds me of walking through the forests when I was a kid. Inscental Jasmine does the same thing, but leaves behind an intoxicating lightly floral (not soapy) and woodsy fragrance that is reminiscent of the perfume stalls at the Renaissance Faire. If you are unsure of a product, you can try out the products by purchasing the Deluxe Sample Pak.

The last product in this post is Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleanser. It’s a bit pricey, and I’ve noticed and increase in the prices of everything (not just their products) lately. That being said, it is one of my favorite cleansers, and not just because it is packaged in a glass bottle. The formula is lightweight, doesn’t dry out my skin, and even though it has a very light clean, grassy scent, the smell does not linger on the skin. I’m not sure how much the extracts actually work, but my skin is clean and smooth. I pair the cleanser with my Clarisonic, a company that sadly closed in 2020.

The products listed are all low-waste, even the samples from Jao. Some do come in plastic, but they can easily be reused or recycled. What are your go-to/favorite products? Let me know in the comments.

Peace & Love, always!

**As with all products, you should test-patch first to see if you react to the product.
