Blogmas, Day 12: Champurrado, Pan Dulce, & a Movie

I love this time of year, when the weather cools down, the holiday lights come on, and you can find people selling champurrado & tamales. Well, this year is a bit different, but the craving is still there. The only time I’m really in the mood for any of it (tamales, champurrado, and pan dulce) is during the holiday season. There is something about the thick, masa- and cinnamon-flavored chocolate that pairs so well with the slightly sweet bread topped with vivid colors. It’s one of those things that warms up your body and soul. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it’s true. Much like watching Disney’s Halloween Treat in October, nothing beats a mug of champurrado and pan dulce while cozying up and watching Mickey’s Christmas Carol. No matter what people say, you’re never too old for cartoons.

At some point in the future, I want to try making the conchas. I’ve made champurrado before. It’s easy and takes no time at all really. Maybe I’ll take a day and come up with a recipe video for both. There will be a post about Christmas dinner up on New Year’s Eve, most likely. I’m also thinking about doing some sort of live stream, cooking/Q&A-type deal. If that’s something you’d be interested in seeing, let me know. I am in the process of making a taste-testing video, and am trying to convince my fiancé to on camera. We’ll see if the attempts are fruitful.

As of late, I am still unmotivated to do much of anything, and I’m not altogether sure as to why. I put some citrus peels in white vinegar to clean with once they’ve sat for a couple of weeks. If you have pets, I urge you to make sure it is safe to use these types of DIY concoctions around them. Always consult with your veterinarian because you don’t want to inadvertently harm your fur-baby. We got some gifts made and sent off as well, so I suppose it has been a productive couple of days, even though the motivation isn’t there. Keeping busy really helps to pass the time, especially now. Long story short, you’re never too old for cartoons, cocoa (or in this case, champurrado) and channeling your inner Christmas/holiday spirit. This continues to be a challenging year, and I hope that you find some happiness and contentment as we enter the final weeks of 2020. As always, thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to stop by and read my post.

Peace & Love, always!
