Another month has gone by, and we’re almost to a new year. I’ve started to do a pantry clear-out to use up everything we have. It’s so easy to overbuy, and even with a stricter stay-in that started yesterday, we have plenty of dry goods and shelf-stable items. Even though I’m low-waste, I’ve put that aside in favor of keeping with safety guidelines. Also, side note, if you are feeling guilty about accumulating more waste than normal, don’t. You can’t help the current state of things, and an increase in waste materials is to be expected. You are doing the best you can. Enough with that. Let’s crack on!
By now I would have had the holiday gifts wrapped, but this year I just didn’t have any motivation. A lot has gone on, so this holiday will be exclusively handmade gifts. Presents (for sure some baked goods will be included) are to be wrapped tins, glass, or some other sustainable wrapping. There are some boxes that need to be shipped off, but those will have to wait.

We’re currently putting together a holiday dinner list. With the stricter stay-in, and increase in cases, the less time spent out, the better. Pilgrim’s Bounty was nice. For the first time I did the whole spread, with the exception of one dish, which wasn’t what I thought I was doing. I was only supposed to cook the turkey. Anyway, it worked out. The turkey was beautiful, although the chef stated the turkey would not be dry, and of course a little bit of it was. The flavored salt that I made for it was wonderful though. Since then I’ve used it on potatoes, vegetables, and plan to use the rest as a marinade. A little goes a long way.
How is your holiday season going thus far? I hope you have a wonderful holiday even though these aren’t the best of times. We have to make the most of what we do have. Life will be back to “normal” at some point. Until next time, stay safe and healthy.
Peace & Love, always!
