Hallow’s End 2020

Hallow’s End is one of my favorite holidays. From October 18th to November 1st, you can participate in one-time quests, dailies, apple-bobbing, and trick-or-treating. There are various inns that have Candy Buckets that you can loot for Tricky Treats.

Candy Buckets

There are also quests to do various emotes for Tricky Treats (i.e. Flex, Chicken, etc.).

Once you look a Candy Bucket, be sure to go to your inventory and click on the hand to “open” your loot. Along with Tricky Treats, you could get consumable Candies (i.e. Chewy Fel Taffy or G.N.E.R.D.S). You can only pick up one handful at a time, hence why you will want to open each hand. If your garrison is up and running, be sure to get Pepe’s scarecrow look and grab the handful of Tricky Treats from the Candy Bucket there. There are several locations throughout Azeroth. I highly recommend that you get an AddOn for tracking the Candy Buckets. The icon will disappear on the big map once you have collected from each bucket. It’s much easier to see if you have missed any buckets.

Tricky Treats

The Tricky Treat icon. The number is your current quantity.

Tricky Treats can be turned in for all sorts of items from masks to pets. You can also get different heirloom upgrades, although I recommend keeping the Tricky Treats and exchanging them for the pets and toys. You can get different costume sets, but they only have 50 charges. Personally, it’s better to obtain the pets and toys that are permanent. Afterward, once you have everything, get the costume pieces. Tricky Treats don’t roll over to the next Hallow’s End, so make sure you use them up.

Quests & Dailies

First, start in your faction’s capital city. There, you will be able to get one-time quest Hallow’s End Treats for Jesper (A)/Spoops (H), where you go around to various innkeepers/npcs and do something (i.e. /flex) for a treat. Then obtain the daily quests, and don’t forget to put out the fires and stop the Horseman from causing too much mayhem. Wowhead has a wonderful guide to all of the quests and dailies here.

Next, fly over to (new) Dalaran at level 40+ to pick up the quest Beware of the Crooked Tree from Duroc Ironjaw in Legerdemain Lounge. Duroc is seated near the Candy Bucket. Turn in the quest to Hag of the Crooked Tree in Val’sharah and accept the daily quest Under the Crooked Tree. Drink from the cauldron to phase into the fight with Aria Sorrowheart’s spirit. You will receive the Hag’s Belongings that may contain one of four hats for transmog (only available during Hallow’s End), wands, and/or up to 5 Tricky Treats.

If your garrison is level three, be sure to head there for dailies to acquire Spooky Supplies. Talk to Orukan to get the dailies and Izzy Hollyfizzle to exchange the Spooky Supplies for decorations. You can deck out your garrison in Hallow’s End decor any time of the year! More on this later on.

Buffs

Once you have helped to ignite the Wickerman (daily), you will gain Unburdened (Alliance) or Grim Visage (Horde), which grants a 10% XP & reputation buff for two hours. The Wickerman daily is either in Stormwind or Undercity depending on your faction. Side note: The XP gains work for mob kills only. Does the reputation buff stack with others? Yes it does! Lost the buff? No problem. Head back over to your faction’s Wickerman and click the pile of embers. You can also get a buff every four hours (announcement made in-game) when Genn (Alliance) outside Stormwind, or Sylvanas (Horde) outside Undercity, watches the burning of the Wickerman. That buff increases mastery and stamina, and persists through death.

Headless Horseman 5-Man Dungeon

Within the Scarlet Monastery lies the Headless Horseman. To enter the dungeon, you can either interact with the Headless Ghost found in capital cities or use the Dungeon Finder. Just be sure, when using the Dungeon Finder, that you scroll to the correct dungeon (next to “Type”). This dungeon is pretty straightforward. Fight the Horseman in three phases, and in each phase be sure to attack the head once he tosses it. In phase three, ignore the adds and focus on the Horseman and his head. You can complete this once a day on toons that are level 10-50. If you are level 45+, there is a chance that The Horseman’s Reins will drop. The mount is a replica of…you guessed it…the Horseman’s mount! Other items include masks, Sinister Squashling pet, other transmog items, and tricky treats.

Garrison Dailies, Decorations, & Battle Pets

So many options, and five days is all it takes to have one of each.

If your garrison is level three, you can get the daily quests from Orukan that will take you to the southwest end of the map. Spend some time killing the mobs after the dailies, and you may end up with one or more Coin of Many Faces toys. You can add extras to the Guild Bank or auction them off. Complete each daily, and you will have 5 Spooky Supplies that you can exchange for different types of decor. If you buy and use Creepy Crawlers, Arachnis will spawn (kill/loot once per day) and several exclusive battle pets (Ghost Maggot, Ghastly Rat, & Spectral Spinner) will show up. These battle pets cannot be auctioned off. Witch’s Brew makes sure that there is enough drink to go around, Ghoulish Guises gives your guards a new disguise, and Seer’s Invitation invites and Arakkoa seer to come join you at your garrison. Finally, Hallow’s Glow decks out your garrison in candles, carved pumpkins, and other Hallow’s End decor. These options are BoA; however, to see them your garrison must be level three. You can also trade in extra Spooky Supplies for Tricky Treats.

Trading in Spooky Supplies for garrison decor will deck the interiors and exterior areas.
