The pandemic has affected my shopping practices, but like I’ve said, health and safety are number one. Very few stores allow reusable items, including produce bags. I have had to come to terms with using the plastic produce bags, which is small on the grand scale of things. Some stores are allowing reusable shopping bags, but not near me, so that’s another thing to consider. These changes should not get you down nor upset. Hopefully they are temporary changes. It is not the end of the world.
Instead of buying a lot of pre-made snack-type items, which can be easy to do especially now, I have opted to focus on produce and the cheese counter. It has lessened the amount of other plastic packaging I would have otherwise brought in. I did get some items from a British grocer, which came in plastic, but were handmade. In a non-grocery capacity, I have decided to take stock of what I have, and won’t make purchases unless it is necessary. It is so easy to get lost on Amazon, browsing items for hours. Yes, I shop on Amazon, usually, because some of the items are cheaper. We need to save, as much as we can, when and where we can.
