Aside from produce, it is very hard to be low-waste in these times. Why? For one, there is no way to use containers from home– for now, anyway. Will we be able to in the future? Honestly, I think the ability to use personal items overall is going to be limited, if not done away with, for the foreseeable future.
In other news, I went out to get a couple of things (a storage bin and crackers, in case you were curious) and have never seen so many empty shelves! If you were to enter and go into the clothing or electronics sections, you’d think everything was “normal”. Get to the pharmacy, disposable products, or food areas, and it’s like the apocalypse has hit and everyone grabbed what they could. The reality is that people have overbought, companies can’t produce the items fast enough, and stores can’t stock what they don’t have. Many places are closing early to ensure that they can sanitize properly and get whatever they can back on the shelves. Maybe I’ll start a diary again to chart this…
We have been keeping busy getting to things around the house, and finally have the glassware to get Christmas presents done (we like to look at it as a very extended Christmas). There are some things I wanted to do but haven’t, like deep clean the fridge. Why haven’t I? Because, quite frankly, I’m tired of having to deep clean others’ messes. It’s so simple for them to clean up their own spills, especially in a finite area like the refrigerator, but those we live with never do. Instead, I’m focusing on the room remodel, my dissertation, and updating this blog. Admittedly I haven’t been able to update as much as I’d like with everything that’s been going on here. We are working on getting some filming done, which should be up in the next week.
What are you doing to keep busy? Let us know in the comments 😊
Peace & Love, always!
